what exactly is a cozy home?

This is the prototypical floor plan for the 1,200 square foot, two bedroom, two bath home.

It’s a new type of rentable housing unit specifically designed and built for middle-income older adults, folks between 60 and 80.

Two bedrooms, two full baths, and an open floor plan with kitchen, dining and family room — all on one floor. Approximately 1,200 square feet, there’s plenty of space for two people to share.

Cozy Homes are modular (which means components are built indoors in a factory where quality can be closely monitored and the weather isn’t a factor). They are shipped to the location to be assembled and finished on site.

These bright, energy efficient — complete with solar panels and passive solar — and well-designed homes provide a warm, cozy, easy living option for vibrant older adults. Several options are available, including different layout and floor plan configurations, colors, finishes, and more. For example, you can get a master/spare bedroom layout or a two master bedroom layout for a roommate situation.

Pictures are worth a thousand words. Here are some renderings of the model home concepts.

The high roof line and design creates spacious living areas. Here are two photos from a virtual reality walkthrough of an existing home built by Deltec. Cozy Homes will not match this exactly, but it gives you a sense how the angled roof creates space.
